How to make
REALLY GOOD
Cold Press Coffee!

Cold press coffee is really NOT cold PRESS... but it is probably one of the laziest ways of making coffee!
BUT... the "cold press" principle of making coffee lies in the soaking and seeping, not in the passing water through the grinds.
And, the best way to do this is indeed with cold water!

Great Cold Press Coffee:
Let’s again start with the Good Coffee at Home basics....

Use a good coffee grinder and the freshest coffee beans, medium to medium-dark roast.

If you like, you can add a flavoured coffee bean, such as hazelnut; do not put in a flavouring syrup, though!

The first time you make this style of coffee, start with an average amount of coffee... once it is made, it is easier to dilute the coffee than to make it stronger!

Start with 500 gm of coffee to 6 litres of water. ( or 250 gm to 3 litres)
Grind your coffee coarse, about the size of sugar, or maybe even a little coarser.

Put the cold water and the coffee in a large pot or jar, ceramic, glass or stainless steel.
Stir well, and put the vessel in the refrigerator.
Leave to steep for about 24 hours; if you let it steep for longer, it will get stronger, but also higher in caffeine.

Strain off the liquid through a fine mesh strainer or a cone filter with filter-paper insert.

Keep in the coffee in the fridge, and use as you would use coffee extract, by adding hot milk for a hot drink, or ice cubes for a refreshing cool drink.

Cold press coffee is probably one of the most versatile Good Coffee at Home styles you can make: it makes an ideal base for coffee flavoured liqueur.
It is an ideal coffee to take to work: it tastes great even if it sits on your desk for ages!!
